Potato Chip Bracelet

A band of tasty goodness.

Do you have a favorite brand of chips? make this funky armband bracelet out of a bag of your chosen snack food. Any plastic snack bag will work. You will be shrinking it into a thick piece of plastic.

What You’ll Need:

• A full-size potato chip bag. Don't use the 'fun' size.
• Scissors
• Elastic cord- About 6" of cord.
• Grommet Punch or paper hole punch.
• Two cookie sheet pans.

Let's get started.

Prepare your bag for cooking.

Preheat your oven to 350 degrees. Place an empty potato chip bag on a greased cookie sheet and place another cookie sheet on top.

Place the pans into the oven and wait between 3-4 minutes. Check on your bag every minute or so to see how it's doing. If it starts to crackle too much, then it's time to take it out. Never put a bag in the over without closing it in the cookie sheets. For more of a crackle effect, cook the bag a little longer, checking on it often.

When it is finished, wear oven mitts to take the pans out of the oven. Remove the top pan. Run cold water over the potato chip bag on the pan to make sure it won’t stick to the bottom.

Now we'll trim the bag.

Trim the extra plastic off the band.

You should be left with a nice, thick piece of plastic that looks like a miniature version of your chip bag. In the oven, the bag may have burnt and splintered on the edges. Trim this kind of excess off the sides of the shrunken bag.

Now you can punch holes for the strap.

Punch holes and thread elastic.

Use your grommet punch or paper hole punch to make holes in each corner of the bag. Thread your length of elastic cord in the holes, crossing in the middle. Adjust how much elastic you will need for the bracelet to fit. Tie off the elastic and cut off any extra elastic cord.

This punky look goes great with a booty bag and neck tie belt.
